Meat Grinders for Homemade Pet Food

There are a lot of great extensive guides to help consumers narrow down the most important features of buying a home meat grinder this is not that. I want to focus in on the meat grinders for home pet food making. This is a particular category unto its self because of the need to grind bones with the meat.

Lem did not make the list because they use a lower power design and mechanics at a higher sale price.

Accessories and Parts

#1. Weston Pro Series #12 & #22 for less than $600

Buyers beware!

Red flag 🚩 #1. There is no way to contact this company via phone, live chat or even a direct email. I have scoured their owners manuals and website and the phone numbers listed simply go to an automated answering service telling the caller to visit their website before automatically ending the call. 🚩 #2. After visiting their Facebook business page and the BBB it seems that consumers are unable to make direct contact with this company for warranty and parts.

After careful consideration I purchased the Weston#22 and using a discount code I was able to shave off $119.00 and brought the price to $480.00 at Homebutcher.com. I made the choice to buy the Weston after all the positive reviews and carefully weighing the technical specifications against the other machines. I have now processed 90lbs of bone in chicken thighs through the machine effortlessly! Home Butcher were amazing to work with. My grinder throat and internals arrived with a coat of rust on them so they instructed me what to do to clean it and prevent it and sent me replacement parts.

The Weston #22 & #32 are the only meat grinders in their line up that offer reverse motor function and a warranty protection while processing bones. The #12 pro series now uses a 1hp motor and 750 watts. Now this is impressive because these exact power schematics were what Weston used to use in their #22 meat grinder before upgrading it to 1.5hp and over 1,000 watts. So for cat owners processing chicken, rabbit, and the occasional duck then the #12 machine is more than capable of working. However for large dog owners who need to process significantly more meat the #22 meat grinder is probably going to do a faster job for the larger quantities that are made at one time.

#2. Paladin #22 – 1.5 HP Meat Grinder

Had I not found the discount for the Weston #22 I would have purchased the Paladin #22 meat grinder. ❤️

When I called their customer service phone number it went straight to someone’s voice mail which is at least hopeful of getting ahold of a live person vs the Weston where there is no hope of ever talking with a live person. Just like the Weston Brands it seems that this company could be pushing its customer service to email only.

This is a robust meat grinder that comes in a #22 and #12 configuration and offers a 1 year limited warranty and a sale price of $499.00. Weighing in at over 60lbs this is a beastly machine.

#3. 1.5hp 1100w 550lb/h commercial grade meat grinder

Chinese cookie cutter zero warranty #22 meat grinder for $379.00 or less. This is a nameless meat grinder because it honestly comes with so many off brand names that it is easier to do a search on Amazon for the details I listed in the header. This particular machine can be purchased on Amazon for $350.00 using a $20.00 off instant coupon.

Meat Grinder Plate Sizes

The Weston #22 meat grinder comes with a 7mm and 4.5mm grinding plates. Grinding plates within the sizes of 3mm or 4mm can grind down the bones to a smaller size and are worth considering if you are uncomfortable with the size of bones using the 4.5mm plate.
