Defunked Apple Products

Update: 2/19/18 Apple is back at it again!!! I have lost function of many apps on my iphone and noticed decreased performance.

Apple Slowing Down Older Phones

My Iphone 5s is running IOS 8.4 software and until recently when Apple finally announced that they were slowing down older phones I experienced routine buggy and slow interface. Shortly after their public press release I saw a huge improvement in the functionality of my phone as many features returned to normal. It got to the point that safari was denying me access to certain web pages and I couldn’t enlarge pictures under the “images” section of google. So Apples response is to sell discounted batteries for all of 2018. I still can’t use certain apps despite having the latest app version downloaded.

IPAD Wont Charge

My 3 year old Ipad Air wouldn’t take a charge. I tried all of the trouble shooting like doing a soft reset (this fixed the problem for 48 hours), cleaning out the port, changing cords, etc.. When plugged in the Ipad wouldn’t show the lightening bolt charging icon but it was trickle charging and took roughly 3-4 days to fully charge enough so that I could do a software update which did fix the problem for 24 hours. The issue seemed fixed after to software related trouble shooting fixes but then returned to not working. This in conjunction with the diagnostics tech telling me there was nothing physically wrong with the battery or port lead me to believe that it was an Apple Software malfunction.

I eventually tried plugging in the Ipad to my laptop and Mac computer to try and do a backup except it wouldn’t read via the cord unless I jiggled it and held it at the right angle. This wasn’t going to work because the backup took over 9 hours via icloud but thankfully the last 12% of my dying Ipad held on long enough.

I took my Ipad into Simply Mac and they said that the battery was fine but something had gone wrong with the charging port which isn’t a fixable issue and my only option was to trade it in towards the same exact model for $100 or I could pay $329.00+ tax for the latest and greatest 5th generation.

Apple Store Trade In Perks

I eventually chose to take my broken Ipad into the Apple store where I received $135.00 trade in towards the upgrade to the 5th generation Ipad and they honored my student discount, price match, and tax exemption bringing my total cost to $161.10.
