Aqua Cube Mr. Heater Camp Shower

Aqua cube Mr. Heater is still one of my favorite all time camping purchases. I have had a fuse blow out while camping and a 12v cig power cord socket completely break and shatter. Lastly I have had to replace the internal battery.

Take the time to get to know your camp shower and get fuses to have on hand before one blows out.

#1. The aqua cube has a fuse in the back of the shower unit. This fuse is clearly marked as T3.15A 250V.

Radio Shack is the only local source for this fuse.

#2. There is also a 5 amp 250V mini ceramic fuse (5mm x 20mm) in the 12v cig plug. This fuse is unidentified as being either slow blow or fast acting. I never had a need to replace this fuse.

#3. I would like to state that I did obtain an additional OEM 12v DC power cord after mine broke. However these cords are no longer available. I recently took my broken cord apart and upgraded it.

I modified my old broken 12v DC power cord to Anderson power pole connectors.

WARNING: The owners manual specifically states not to use any modified power cords.

This shower has long since been discontinued and replaced by other models. It is long outside of its warranty so any repairs are up to the owners discretion. The replacement power cords are no longer supplied by Mr. Heater. However it is possible to purchase a DC 12V 24V Universal Car Vehicle Fused Cigarette Lighter Power Plug Inlet Connector instead of using the Anderson power connectors. This also would not be terribly difficult to build a completely new power cord from scratch.

A) the 12v DC power cord has a 5mm x 20mm ceramic 5 amp 250V fuse in the socket. So install an inline fuse holder and fuse.

B) the white cable is the grounding wire and the black cable is the hot or power supply.

5 amp slow blow inline fuse installed on the power supply cable. Extension yellow cable added to ground/white cable.

#4. Lastly is the battery FirstPower FP1226A 12V 2.6Ah Replacement Battery

IMPORTANT: Top off charge the shower at home every 3 monthsl simply plug it in to a wall power supply and let it charge up. By not doing this simple maintenance the internal battery can drain below safety levels and cause irreparable internal damage thus requiring a new battery replacement.

If none of the fuses are blown and the shower just isn’t staying charged then the internal battery may need to be replaced.
