Adult Karate Kid Costume
To hand out candy to the kids this Halloween Eric wanted to be dressed as the Karate Kid so for less than $20.00 we bought the grey sweater at Michaels, the red sweat pants at walmart and the white fabric at Joanns and I set out to throw together a bandanna.
Christi at Lemon Squeezy Home gave me the inspiration and picture that I used to make the headband. She used a few different methods that could work better for you if the below method doesn’t work out.
Supplies:
- Sharpie (blue would be movie correct)
- Scissors
- Cardboard (cereal box)
- white fabric of choice
- Icon print out found below
- Masking tape
- Paper clips
- Pen
STEPS
#1. Print off the flower karate kid head band image here
#2. Measure the persons head you are trying to fit and cut your fabric so that there is enough left to hang down to the base of their neck.
#3. I chose to paper clip the print out underneath my fabric, tape it to a window, and then used a pen to outline the image
#4. I used a large sharpie to retrace the image on the fabric and color it because the paint was too messy and unpredictable.
TIP: Make sure that none of your fabric is folder over its self and that you have a piece of cardboard underneath the fabric because the sharpie will bleed through if doing this on your table.
#5. I then just made a few rows of polka dots with the sharpie tip
#6. Use seam sealing iron on tape to seal the fabric edges together and keep it from fraying
