Litter Robot Open Air

I have 3 litter robots, the classic OG 1st generation (bought second hand for $5 as a gift for my grandma in 2017 but then she passed away before i could give it to her), the classic 2nd generation (was gifted to me for my own cats in 2013), and finally the 4th generation open air that I purchased for my geriatric cat in 2015.

I bought the open air with a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath and Beyond for Goober because it has a night light, more ergonomic step with a litter catching removable rubber mat which is better for the arthritic older cats. Wider opening to allow for easier cleaning and better for our larger 18+lb kitty Cody. I have had a few problems with the litter robot but again these were user errors by not following the reset options after cleaning the unit and were easily fixed with the help of the Litter robot customer service team.

Pet Safe Smart Feeder

I finally had to bite the bullet and buy an additional smart feeder for the two additional kitties that moved in. It has a medium sized hopper compared to my Pillar Pet Feeder and required buying an after market chute splitter and Bowles in order to feed two cats at once. there is a light on the top of the machine where the feed button is and it is horribly bright at night but otherwise the feeder has worked flawlessly for 10 months now.

The Pillar Perfect Pet Feeder $500

Sadly this product has been discontinued since 2011 but it can still be found on occassion for sale on Ebay or Craigslist.

This pet feeder is superior to any pet feeder on the market even now in 2017 due to its stainless steel build and design. I have owned this auto pet feeder for six years and it has worked flawlessly and never given me a problem. It has been through five moves and many power outages. Sadly due to its perceived high price tag the business stopped producing and selling the feeders right after my purchase in 2011.

pros:

• Only feeder that feeds multiple pets
•  Food hopper has a 16lb capacity

cons:

• The only thing I don’t like is that the screen isn’t back lit.

 

The Sure Flap microchip reading Pet Door

I have had my sure flap pet door for nearly two years now and it has done what I needed. It keeps the feral kitties out and detours the raccoons from getting in. The pet door is worthless against wind and whether sealing so I made a minor improvement. I used 3M Velcro  to adhere an additional cat flap on the outside of the door and the cats haven’t been slowed down by it.

 

 

 

 

 

Unfortunately for me Shortly after buying and installing the original model of the cat door the company released their blue tooth version which pairs to your phone. The blue tooth version does not work with the earlier models.
