Fiamma F35 Awning & K9 Roof Rack

This has taken me a bit of time with trouble shooting and overall procrastination. I finally pulled the trigger and bought the Fiamma this Holliday season during Eurovans Black Friday sale. I was able to get a price reduction that equaled Free Shipping!

**For a less expensive slightly more involving alternative then consider using the K9 awning bracket. The holes won’t line up with the Fiamma so measuring and drilling will be required. The Fiamma won’t sit flush on the lower pop out lip so it could be cut off. I didn’t choose this option because I assumed that the Fiamma specific bracket would fit the C-channel better but now I understand that it would most likely work the same.

Shopping List

#1. I bought this Roof rack awning bracket kit for the face plate adapter that connects directly to the Fiamma awning.

#2. K9 accessory adapter set.

#3. m6 hex head 30mm bolts x (2) + (2) lock nuts

#4. 1/4″ stainless steel sleeve x (2)

#5. 2 washers

#6. Buy either hex head or Phillips pan head M6 16mm bolts and lock nuts x 4. I used Phillips head bolts.

#7. Buy M6 star nuts

#1. I aligned and squared the existing holes of the face plate mount with the K9 accessory mount holes and marked the new holes for drilling along the bottom of the aluminum bracket.

#2. Drilled the holes.

#3. Used the pan head M6 16mm bolts and lock nuts on the newly drilled bottom two holes

#4. Inserted the Hex nut M6 30mm into the top hole, put on the sleeve, washer, and lock nut.

The two holes on either side of the hex nut were apart of an earlier mounting attempt that failed. Please don’t drill those holes.

The K9 accessory brackets come stock with these cute little cap nuts. It’s worth mentioning that the bolts that come with this kit are too short and I recommend upgrading to a longer bolt.

I prefer a stout tool less star nut!

A dry run to make sure the brackets fit in place.

Then remove the brackets. The m6 hex head bolts that slide into the awning C-channel are too long and won’t fit into place mounted on the roof rack. Place the hex nut through the hole and match up the hex nut head and C-channels before sliding them into the awning.

With both mounts now slid into place tighten down the hex head, sleeve, washer, and lock nut. It is ready for mounting by simply lining up the roof rack bolts with the accessory bracket and tightening down the star nuts.

Yes I did put two safety straps onto my f35 because there are a few heavily bumpy roads that I plan to travel and they go on for miles. These roads could easily destroy the locking mechanisms on an unsecured awning.
