Pull Out Drying Rack – For Rolling Closet

Simply put I needed more clothes drying space in my laundry room. I already use the Wire Closet in my laundry room for this purpose so it felt only perfect to integrate a pull out drying rack into this system.
The width of my top shelf measured from the Inside rim edge to inside edge is 35” and to clear the two front bars it measures 33”.
I started out with one plan and at the end I changed it up because plan A just was not working.
These amazingly strong and lined cable P straps will not work!

Let’s Build
First start by relocating the closet cross bar hanging straps to the bottom bar.

Measure & Cut
15.25” is what I measured and cut my inside 1”x3” pieces of lumber.
- These are the pieces that the drawer slides attach to.
I also cut 4 pieces of 1 in x 3in x 5in pieces and wood glued them on the back side at each end of my 15.25” runner.
- These pieces added as a bumper or filler pieces to help me span the necessary distance needed to remove any gaps.

Dry fit and it is perfect!
Once the wood glue was dry I attached aligned and attached the drawer pulls.

I used zip ties to attach the Boaxel shelf to the drawer slides!.

I used another piece of scrap wood cut to size so that it overlapped the two end posts on the outside of the shelf frame. I then drilled pilot holes through all 3 pieces of wood to perfectly aligned with the metal shelf frame so as to rest secure above the bottom rail frame so that the wood screw could utilize the metal wire shelf framing for structural strength and stability.
On one side I only needed to wood screws while on the other side I had some issues with the wood splitting and being a bit warped since this was scrap wood from my indoor scrap pile.
